Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love the remote control features of their key fob. Using a smartphone app, they can lock and unlock the car or start the engine and even locate the vehicle.

First, Volvo keyfob place the key fob on a clean surface with the logo side facing upward. Find the button that releases it, wedge an object between the fob and the cover and pull it up gently.

Locking the Door

Keep your key fob in place with the Volvo logo facing upwards, and press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button at the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a protective cover that protects the key blade that is manual. The cover can be turned counterclockwise by using a flathead or coin.

Using a fingernail, carefully remove the cover on the back of the key fob. The button should be beneath the cover on an angle that is near the edge of the body. Take it off by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will fall off and slide off, revealing the manual blade! If you can't find the button, search the now-uncovered manual key access for an undiscovered lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

One of the hidden features on Volvo key fobs is the ability to close all windows instantly by using the fobs. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking spot, or even just when you need some fresh air in the cabin while driving.

To do this, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, as well as the sunroof if it comes with one. Once you're done with the vehicle, you can shut all the windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob to trigger your car's panic alarm. This will emit an intense, enthralling roar that will frighten off thieves and allow you to return home safely after a long night out. This feature is helpful if you are living in a secluded area or you want to safeguard your family members when they are away.

The opening of the Tailgate

The key fob of Volvo is loaded with a variety of useful features. They are great if you're slammed with groceries or helping kids pack their sports equipment after practice.

The Alarm is turned off

Set out your key fobs, batteries, and extra keys on a clean surface. Place the key fob in a place with the Volvo logo facing upwards and then locate a tiny black button to the left side of the fob. Slide it down and to the right. The cover should loosen and fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade beneath it.

You can open all doors and the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob twice. The lock button also closes the windows and sunroof (if equipped) by pressing it for two seconds. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm will stop. If not, the owner's instructions should include a reset method.
